BYD Puts on Display Several Models at Paris Motor Show

Chinese leading automaker BYD participated in the 2022 Paris Motor Show that opened on October 17, showing the company’s Han EV, ATTO 3 (known as Yuan Plus in China), Tang and Seal models.

After the Paris Motor Show debut, the ATTO 3 will begin deliveries to many countries in Europe, including Norway, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and other countries. The vehicle has been pre-sold in Germany with a price tag of 38,000 euros.

The ATTO 3 is BYD’s first passenger car model launched for overseas markets. It is built on the e-platform 3.0 though the European export version is basically the same as the Chinese domestic version. The appearance adopts the Dragon Face 3.0 design language with elegantly curved features.

However, there are many details that differ between the ATTO 3 and Yuan Plus in China and abroad. For example, the small embossed character “Yuan” on the chrome trim of the front face has been replaced with the English letters ‘BYD’, and the Chinese character logo in the car has also been replaced with English.

The driver assistance systems on the ATTO 3 will provide comprehensive safety protection, including forward collision warning system, intelligent speed assist, lane awareness, and automatic emergency braking. The car has previously passed the latest batch of Euro NCAP crash and safety tests with five stars.

This is the first time that the BYD Han has been unveiled overseas, and more Han models will be sold in Europe. The BYD Han in Europe has a similar appearance to the Han Founding Edition in China. Judging from the tail marks ‘3.9s’ and ‘EV’, the model on display at the show could have been the Han EV Founding Edition with a 610km cruising range, four-wheel drive, 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds, a total motor speed of 380 kW, and total torque of 700 N・m.

The BYD Han for the European markets adapts a much more sporty Alcantara material for the internal design. On September 28, the company announced a pre-sale price of 72,000 euros for the vehicle in Germany, which will then be delivered to many other neighboring countries.

The BYD Seal will go on sale in Germany and Sweden through the European distributor Hedin Mobility in the fourth quarter of 2022, with deliveries to other European countries likely to begin later. The vehicle features two types of drive in China: rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The standard version is equipped with a 150kW motor, a 61.4kWh battery, and a CLTC cruising life of 550km. The four-wheel drive version is equipped with a 390kW motor, a 82.5kWh battery, and a CLTC cruising life of 650km.
