In August 11, Chinese electronics company Xiaomi released the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV – the MI TV LUX Transparent Edition, which displays images that seem to “be suspended in the air”. The new smart TV features an edge-to-edge transparent self-luminous display, leaving it looks like a glass and allowing viewers to see through to the other side. The Mi TV LUX features a 55-inch OLED screen with an ultra-thin width of around 5.7 millimeters. The screen is capable of displaying 1.07 billion color combinations, far beyond what the human eye can actually perceive. It also comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 120Hz MEMC technology, for clearer motion and low latency gaming. The Mi TV is priced at 49,999 yuan ($7,230) available in Chinese market.

The new smart TV features a massive 70-inch 4K display with HDR support and runs on the company’s PatchWall platform. It sports a fairly simple design with bare-minimum bezels and can be wall-mounted or left to stand on a tabletop.

The device is housing a quad-core 64-bit Amlogic SoC at the core, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. Additionally, the Redmi TV supports various audio technologies such as Dolby Audio and DTS HD. It is currently retailing at a very affordable price of 3,799 yuan (~$530).

Honor Vision TV 55-inch 4K

Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro were announced on August 10 2019 under Huawei. The smart displays were also the first devices to be powered by HarmonyOS, Huawei’s alternative solution to the Android operating system. Honor Vision has a 4K UHD display, capable of lighting up to a brightness of 400 nits with a wide 178-degree viewing angle. The smart TV screen features a 55-inch screen, a 94% screen-to-body ratio and comes with an adjustable pop-up camera and six far-field microphones, which can be used for 1080p video calling at 30fps.

OnePlus has been performing exceptionally well in the smartphone industry and now it wants to venture into the smart TV space with its OnePlus TV, which is going to debut in India by the end of this September.

According to OnePlus, the new Smart TV will have a 55-inch QLED panel and run on a more efficient and faster Android TV OS. QLED panels are superior to regular LEDs and provide a better picture quality. OnePlus is gearing up to compete in the premium TV market with its new TV, which will likely have a more competitive price tag than the current premium smart TVs.

Mi LED 65-inch Smart TV 4

Xiaomi, China’s smartphone giant, is also a popular brand for television. The company holds about a 40% market share of smart TVs in India.
