As COVID-19 forces people worldwide into quarantine and shifts the global economy to digitize, there scene for online meeting software solutions thrives, making products like Tencent Meeting to go up the ranks on download charts.
Alibaba Cloud Meeting’s main function is remote video-conferencing, it allows users to easily initiate, attend, or reserve an online meeting with up to 500 participants simultaneously and supports basic text chat and emoji communication.
Unlike Tencent Meeting, that can be accessed via Tencent’s Wechat, Alibaba Cloud Meeting is not integrated with other Alibaba products. Users are currently required to log in with their telephone number.
Prior to the release of Alibaba Cloud Meeting, applications like Alibaba’s DingTalk, Bytedance’s Lark, Huawei’s Welink all had video-conferencing features. However, these features were not prioritized.
Alibaba Cloud Meeting leverages Alibaba’s global Content Delivery Network(CND) its expertise in cloud computing to provide users with audio and video conferencing services of higher quality and compete with Tencent Meeting, which attempts to capitalize on Tencent’s social media user base of over 500 million.
